Digital tools play an increasingly important role in the teaching-learning process at all educational levels. Collaborative learning is a method that encourages the creation of knowledge through student collaboration. It has generated various platforms, among which Google Classroom stands out, a free access online environment developed by Google. However, a knowledge gap remains on how to effectively use this platform for collaborative learning. This article answers several research questions in this context, to do so it uses the bibliographic review method, with a qualitative approach and a narrative design. The results indicate that Google Classroom offers collaborative tools such as Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, Meet and Slides. Although other virtual learning environments may offer more functionality, the benefits of Google Classroom include enhancing active learning, developing critical and cognitive skills, and facilitating collaborative work. Educational challenges are mainly external, involving the preparation of teachers, resistance to change and the availability of technological resources.
Las herramientas digitales desempeñan un papel cada vez más importante en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje en todos los niveles educativos. El aprendizaje colaborativo es un método que fomenta la creación de conocimiento a través de la colaboración de los estudiantes, ha generado diversas plataformas, entre las cuales destaca Google Classroom, un entorno en línea de acceso libre desarrollado por Google. Sin embargo, persiste una brecha de conocimiento sobre cómo utilizar efectivamente esta plataforma para el aprendizaje colaborativo. Este artículo responde varias preguntas de investigación en este contexto, para ello utiliza el método de revisión bibliográfica, con un enfoque cualitativo y un diseño narrativo. Los resultados indican que Google Classroom ofrece herramientas colaborativas como Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, Meet y Slides. Aunque otros entornos virtuales de aprendizaje pueden ofrecermás funcionalidades, los beneficios de Google Classroom incluyen potenciar el aprendizaje activo, desarrollar habilidades críticas y cognitivas, y facilitar el trabajo colaborativo. Los desafíos educativos, principalmente son externos, involucran la preparación de docentes, la resistencia al cambio y la disponibilidad de recursos tecnológicos.
