AFECTACION ARTICULAR EN EL CURSO DE COVID-19

    Abstract

Introduction: Joint involvement is not a pathognomonic clinical manifestation of COVID-19, however, alterations of the musculoskeletal system may be frequent. The presence of pain, inflammatory signs, deformation and joint limitation are part of the extra-respiratory manifestations of the disease caused by the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus; which are accentuated more in patients who already had a rheumatic disease. Objective: To describe the case of a 43-year-old female patient with joint inflammation as part of the musculoskeletal manifestations of COVID-19. Clinical Case: A 43-year-old female patient with a monoarticular inflammatory condition in the left knee and general manifestations such as fatigue and marked decay, due to the suspicion of COVID-19, laboratory tests are carried out that confirm the diagnosis of this disease. Conclusions: COVID-19 presents typical manifestations such as fever and respiratory conditions, however there may also be extra-respiratory alterations such as rheumatic conditions that can appear even in the absence of the typical condition, as was the case of this patient where the only manifestations of COVID -19 were monoarticular inflammatory involvement and asthenia.
