The objective was to investigate the reality of virtual platforms in Ecuadorian higher education and their academic impact before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study was quantitative. The sample was non-probabilistic participatory, consisting of (500) students from different universities in the Province of Chimborazo. A digital scale was used for data collection. The results were analysed with the t student and MANOVA on the basis of 4 study variables, using SPSS. A positive view of students when using educational platforms was revealed. There are significant statistical differences according to gender variables, contrary to the levels of study and location, there is a greater sympathetic affection of students when receiving virtual classes by female teachers. It can be concluded that the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of online learning by higher education institutions
El objetivo fue investigar la realidad de las plataformas virtuales enla educación superior ecuatoriana y su impacto académico antes y durante lapandemia COVID-19. El estudio fue Cuantitativo. La muestra fue no probabilísticaparticipativa, consistió en (500) estudiantes de distintas universidades de laProvincia del Chimborazo. Para la recolección de datos se utilizó una escaladigital. Los resultados fueron analizados con el t student y el MANOVA en basea 4 variables de estudio, a través del SPSS. Se revelo una visión positiva de losestudiantes al utilizar las plataformas educativas. Existen diferencias estadísticassignificativas de acuerdo con las variables de género, al contrario de los niveles deestudio y ubicación, existe una mayor afectividad y comprensión de los estudiantesal recibir clases virtuales por parte de profesoras. Se puede concluir que la pandemiaCOVID-19 aceleró la adopción del aprendizaje en línea por parte de las institucionesde educación superior
