Philosophy is the means by which man can have a vision of the purpose of his existence, understand his history, thought and identity. The main objective of this article is to expose the influence of Leopoldo Zea in the Latin American philosophical thought, through the analysis and reflection of several of his works from two points of view: The importance of philosophizing in our America and the Organization and diffusion of Latin American and Caribbean Studies, exposing its main foundations and his vision of man, universality and values as the basis of the organization of Latin American philosophical thought. In his postulates, Zea questions and corrects the dependence of American philosophy on Western philosophy, proposing that in order for the peoples to find their identity and develop their own thought, they must know their history, which will give them a liberating conscience
La filosofía es el medio por el cual el hombre puede tener una visión sobre el propósito de suexistencia, entender su historia, pensamiento y su identidad. El objetivo central de este artículo esexponer la influencia de Leopoldo Zea en el pensamiento filosófico Latinoamericano, mediante elanálisis y reflexión de varias de sus obras desde dos puntos de vista: La importancia de filosofaren nuestra América y la Organización y difusión de los Estudios de América Latina y el Caribe,exponiendo sus principales fundamentos y su visión del hombre, la universalidad y los valorescomo la base de la organización del pensamiento filosófico latinoamericano. Zea en sus postuladoscuestiona y corrige, la dependencia de la filosofía americana con la occidental, propone que paraque los pueblos encuentren su identidad y desarrollen un pensamiento propio deben conocer suhistoria, la misma que les dará una conciencia libertadora.
