The main objective of this research is to analyze gender equality for women in the parliamentary and legal sphere of Ecuador because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The methodology responds to a quanti-qualitative model with a qualitative longitudinal nonexperimental design of an ethnographic nature whose scope of research is descriptive. All the methods studied in this research are of the theoretical level of knowledge and in these regard legal and social phenomena are studied. The study indicates different legal norms of Ecuador and emphasizes different international projections about the COVID 19 pandemic and its incidence in the parliamentary sphere. In conclusion, despite the different legal norms in force that promote gender equality in the parliament in Ecuador, women have not achieved large representations in this area due to deep-rooted social positions that impede the achievement of gender equality in that country. In addition, with the health crisis there will possibly be an increase in legal measures that will not include the gender approach and that will be focused on health care measures.
El objetivo principal de esta investigación es analizar la igualdad de género para las mujeresen el ámbito parlamentario y jurídico del Ecuador a raíz de la pandemia COVID-19. Lametodología responde a un modelo cuali-cualitativo con un diseño no experimentallongitudinal de carácter etnográfico cuyo alcance de investigación es descriptivo. Todos losmétodos estudiados en esta investigación son del nivel teórico del conocimiento y al respectose estudian fenómenos jurídicos y sociales. En el estudio se señalan distintas normasjurídicas del Ecuador y se enfatizan distintas proyecciones internacionales sobre la pandemiaCOVID 19 y su incidencia en el ámbito parlamentario. En conclusión, a pesar de las distintasnormas jurídicas vigentes que fomentan la igualdad de género en el parlamento en el Ecuadorlas mujeres no han logrado grandes representaciones en ese ámbito debido a arraigadasposturas sociales que impiden la consecución de la igualdad de género en ese país. Además,con la crisis sanitaria posiblemente habrá un incremento de medidas jurídicas que no incluiránel enfoque de género y que estarán enfocadas en medidas de atención sanitaria.
