TRANSICIONES SISTEMATICAS EN EL USO Y LA COBERTURA DEL SUELO EN UNA MICROCUENCA ALTO ANDINA, ECUADOR 1991-2011

Abstract

We identified the transitions that characterized the change of land use and coverage in the micro-watershed of the Jubal River (3120-4360 MASL), from 1991-2011, with the objective of contributing to future plans of land management and planning of strategies for the conservation of natural resources of the micro-watershed of the Jubal River, belonging to the Sanghay National Park. The results suggest that the ecosystem services offered by the micro-watershed of the Jubal River as a water service provider and regulator are being seriously threatened.

Resumen

Se identificaron las transiciones que caracterizaron el cambio de uso y cobertura del suelo en la microcuenca del río Jubal (3120-4360 msnm), período 1991-2011, con el objetivo de contribuir a futuros planes de ordenamiento territorial y en la planificación de estrategias para la conservación de los recursos naturales de la microcuenca del rio Jubal perteneciente al Parque Nacional Sangay. Los resultado sugieren que el servicio ecosistémico que ofrece la microcuenca del río Jubal como proveedora y reguladora de servicios hídricos está siendo seriamente amenazado.
