From the juridical definitions of femicide, a study is developed for the evaluation of the flaws in the Ecuadorian culture that gives rise to the commission of this infraction that causes social commotion. In the research, the analytical-synthetic, historical-logical, dialectical and bibliographic methods were used, which helped in the development of the topic, as well as in obtaining information from the State Attorney Generals Office. As a result of the research, it is verified that the increasing mortality rates due to gender violence are determined essentially by the predominance of cultural patterns that undervalue the status of women in society and contribute to ignorance of current legislation.
A partir de las definiciones jurídicas del femicidio, se desarrolla un estudio para la evaluación de las falencias en la cultura ecuatoriana que da origen al cometimiento de esta infracción que causa conmoción social. En la investigación se emplearon los métodos, analítico-sintético, histórico-lógico, dialéctico y bibliográfico, que ayudaron al desarrollo del tema, así como a la obtención de información proveniente de la Fiscalía General del Estado. Como resultado de la investigación, se comprueba que los índices crecientes de mortalidad a causa de la violencia de género se determinan esencialmente por el predominio de pautas culturales que subvaloran el estatus de la mujer en la sociedad y contribuyen al desconocimiento de la legislación vigente.
