LA LECTURA, LA CIRCULACION DE LAS IDEAS Y LAS NUEVAS FORMAS DE PENSAR FORJADAS DESDE EL AMBIENTE UNIVERSITARIO A FINALES DEL SIGLO XVIII E INICIOS DEL SIGLO XIX

Abstract

The influence of Universidad Santo Tomas de Aquino in the formation of a social conscience and the establishment of a political culture in Ecuador is recognized, but this work is the first systematic attempt to make these contributions explicit. An approach, centered on the social-historical analysis of representative statements, seeks to visualize and problematize the relationship between the readings made and the new forms of thinking forged from the university environment. This study explores works of the academic environment of the mid and late eighteenth century and the articulation of the reading practices of Quito intellectuals, in the newly created university, with the construction of visions in the political sphere.

Resumen

Actualmente se reconoce la influencia de la Universidad ?Santo Tomás de Aquino? en la conformación de una conciencia social y en el arraigo de una cultura política en Ecuador; noobstante, este trabajo es el primer intento sistemático de hacer explícitos estos aportes. Se realiza un abordaje centrado en el análisis histórico-social de enunciados representativos, que busca visibilizar y problematizar la relación entre las lecturas realizadas y las nuevas formas de pensar forjadas desde el ambiente universitario. Este estudio explora obras del ambiente académico de mediados y fines del siglo XVIII y la articulación las prácticas lectoras de los intelectuales quiteños en la recién creada universidad, con la construcción de visiones en la esfera política.
