In the Ecuadorian context, any study of pertinence has at its base the current model of higher education. This is based on the conjugation of three fundamental principles: democratization, quality and relevance; however, it calls attention the scarce use that higher education professionals have made of research to transform the processes that pay to the social relevance of specific careers. The article focuses on partial results of the study of pertinence of Clinical Psychology career in the National University of Chimborazo; process that allowed verifying that this new career, in its curricular redesign, is oriented to generate and apply knowledge with a strong social value.
